A deputy was wounded and two individuals were killed in an officer-involved shooting in Stone County.

The incident occurred around 4:30 p.m. yesterday at a Dollar General store on Highway 49 in Perkinston.

Initially responding to a domestic dispute call, the Stone County deputy encountered Perry Stephens Jr., who shot the deputy in the arm.

In response, the officer returned fire, resulting in a brief exchange. Stephens was later found dead, presumably from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Another individual, Kimberly Kennedy, was also discovered deceased at the scene, with investigators suspecting her death to be linked to Stephens.

The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is overseeing the case, and their inquiry is ongoing.

This is a developing story that will be updated when more information is available.
