The identity of the man discovered shot dead inside a car in Louisville’s St. Denis neighborhood has been disclosed.

Louisville Metro Police responded to a call on Tuesday afternoon in the 3400 block of Shagbark Road. According to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office, 23-year-old Carlos Hamilton succumbed to a gunshot wound at 2:39 p.m.

His death has been classified as a homicide.

Currently, there are no known suspects.

LMPD responded to reports of a shooting around 2:30 p.m. in the 3400 block of Shagbark Road. Upon arrival, officers discovered a man inside a car with gunshot wounds.

He was pronounced dead at the scene. “Sometimes life can be so cruel and so unfair,” expressed Dr. Eric A. Johnson, Senior Pastor at Greater Galilee Church. Johnson revealed that the victim, a 23-year-old member of his congregation, was tragically involved.

“It just rips my heart apart. It’s sad to see this family and to come out here and to witness and to share with them, to provide some hope. And just, enough is enough,” Johnson stated while standing behind police crime scene tape.
