3 charged in connection to the murder of 23-year-old Oharra Reggynaulde Thomas in Bainbridge

Three individuals are facing charges in connection with the fatal shooting of a man at the recently constructed apartments near Faceville Highway in Bainbridge on Sunday, February 25th.

Oharra Reggynaulde Thomas, aged 23, was fatally shot outside his apartment, situated in the 1400 block of Avenue A in Bainbridge, as reported by the GBI.

Bainbridge Public Safety requested GBI assistance in the investigation around 5:50 p.m. on Sunday.

GBI agents promptly responded to the scene, collaborating with Bainbridge Public Safety Investigators to initiate the investigation.

According to the investigation thus far, Thomas was engaged in a dispute with his girlfriend and some of her relatives.

The altercation intensified, leading to Thomas being shot multiple times by Anthony Tyrome Chandler, aged 26, who is identified as the brother of Thomas’s girlfriend by the GBI.

Angela Balogun, aged 44, identified as the mother of Thomas’s girlfriend, and Brianna Chandler, aged 24, identified as the sister of Thomas’s girlfriend, have all been charged in connection with the incident.

Anthony is facing the following charges:

  • Felony murder
  • Aggravated assault
  • Possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime

The charges against Balogun include the following:

  • Tampering with evidence
  • Aggravated assault
  • Possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime

Brianna is charged with the following:

  • Aggravated assault
  • Hindering the apprehension of a fugitive

Deputies from the Decatur County Sheriff’s Office also provided support in processing the crime scene.

The GBI stated that evidence collected from the scene will undergo analysis to assist investigators in the case. Thomas’s autopsy will be conducted at the GBI Crime Lab.
