25-year-old Troy Cheek arrested for the murder of 23-year-old Aaron Robert in Beaumont

Beaumont Police have arrested 25-year-old Troy Cheek, a resident of Beaumont, in connection with the fatal shooting of 23-year-old Aaron Robert on Saturday night.

The shooting occurred at an apartment complex in Beaumont’s west end, specifically at the West End Crossing apartments.

Aaron Robert was discovered fatally shot in an apartment belonging to a female resident at the complex, as stated in a news release from the police.

According to police, Cheek specifically targeted Robert, who was present at the apartment of Cheek’s former girlfriend.

Cheek was detained and booked into the Jefferson County Correctional Facility early Saturday morning on a murder charge, with bail set at $75,000, as per jail records.

Officers were dispatched to the West End Crossing apartment complex located at 6550 Phelan Blvd around 10:45 p.m. Saturday night following reports of a shooting, according to Beaumont Police spokesperson Officer Haley Morrow.

Upon arrival, officers discovered Robert’s body inside an apartment within the complex. Swift communication from witnesses at the scene and recent reports enabled the police to quickly identify Cheek as a potential suspect.

As he returned to his apartment, law enforcement was able to detain him, as outlined in the release.

Upon further investigation by detectives, it was revealed that Robert, who was inside a female’s apartment, was struck by a bullet that entered through a window.

Following interviews, detectives apprehended Cheek in connection with Robert’s murder, as stated in the release.

The police acknowledged the significance of information provided by witnesses at the scene in facilitating a prompt arrest in the case.
