A shooting incident in Waterville on Monday morning resulted in one fatality and another individual sustaining injuries, as reported by the Maine State Police.

The Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit is providing assistance to the Waterville Police Department in the investigation. Authorities have assured the public that there is no ongoing threat to safety.

A witness reported observing a police presence in a neighborhood near Pine Grove Cemetery in Waterville on Monday morning.

According to a source, a male individual using a phone’s mapping feature indicates he’s in the water, reporting a gunshot wound to his mouth with bleeding and stating that he’s currently hiding. The suspected perpetrator is allegedly attempting to flee to a black Audi with white house plates, described as having short, shoulder-length curly hair.

Identified as Tyler Quair, the suspect is reportedly armed with a handgun. A chaplain has been requested for the mother, who followed a state trooper to the scene. Additionally, a high-risk K-9 unit from the state police with unit number 901 is being called for assistance.

Priscilla Pagliaroli, who resides nearby, recounted being in her backyard when she heard what she believed to be a gunshot in close proximity.

She quickly retreated indoors with her dog upon hearing another loud gunshot.

Pagliaroli mentioned spotting police officers on Grove Street in the trailer park situated behind her residence.
