University of Colorado on lockdown after death reported on Colorado Springs campus

An investigation into 2 fatality was initiated at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs on Friday morning following a shooting incident that prompted a campus lockdown, with residents of dormitories instructed to take shelter.

The Colorado Springs Police Department clarified that this was not an active shooter scenario, though university officials affirmed the occurrence of a shooting on campus in a post at 9:46 a.m.

Residents of Alpine Village at UCCS, comprising six distinct dormitory buildings, were instructed to remain indoors Friday morning, as communicated by campus police.

“We do not want movement in and around these areas,” university officials emphasized in a safety notification.

Meanwhile, other students and faculty were permitted to depart the closed campus.

The shelter-in-place directive was rescinded at 9:36 a.m., as indicated in an update from campus police.
