Heavy police presence at Palm Beach Gardens Mall after reports of shooting

On Wednesday afternoon, reports of gunfire at the Gardens Mall prompted a significant police presence at the scene, while nearby schools and businesses heightened their security measures.

As of now, there have been no reports of injuries related to the incident.

By 5:30 p.m., the mall was secured, as confirmed by Palm Beach Gardens spokesperson Candice Temple.

She further stated that the remaining customers and employees in the mall were being escorted out at that time.

The investigation is still underway.

The Palm Beach Gardens Police Department (PBGPD) affirmed that its officers and other emergency responders reacted to the mall following reports of gunfire.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office also confirmed that they were summoned to provide assistance.

Authorities have not provided information regarding any arrests made. Additionally, they have not released any descriptions of potential suspects.

A witness inside the mall informed Channel3 NOW that they heard between five to ten shots fired.

Additionally, the Palm Beach State College Gardens campus was also placed on lockdown as a precautionary measure.

A witness at the scene reported an active shooter situation at the mall. The witness stated they were at the back of the Apple store and heard that three individuals were detained at the north entrance, but they are unsure of the details.

As at the time of this report, there has been neither confirmation nor identification of any victims.

No suspects have been identified, and there has been no information immediately released regarding any arrests.
