On Sunday afternoon, following a domestic incident, two individuals lost their lives, and two officers from Palm Bay were injured in a shooting, as stated by the police.

The Palm Bay Police reported that they were dispatched to the 400 block of Forgal Avenue NE at approximately 2:07 p.m. in response to a domestic disturbance.

Palm Bay Police Chief Mariano Augello mentioned that officers confronted the suspect, identified as 24-year-old Brandon Kapas, leading to an exchange of gunfire when Kapas refused to comply with verbal commands from the officers.

Two officers from the Palm Bay Police were shot and subsequently transported to the hospital, as stated by Augello.

He assured, “They are going to survive,” while discussing the condition of the two wounded officers.

The released information indicates that more officers arrived at the scene and pursued Brandon Kapas, who, before being confronted by law enforcement and fatally injured, had already caused the death of another person.

Augello emphasized, “We pursued him to ensure our citizens were safe.”

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is set to conduct an investigation into the shooting.

This is a developing story that will be updated when more information is available.
