An investigation is underway following an incident involving a MARTA Police officer outside the Five Points MARTA station on Peachtree Street on Wednesday morning.
According to MARTA Police, the incident occurred around 11 a.m. when the officer observed a man wielding a knife and attacking two individuals.
Subsequently, the assailant charged at the officer, stabbing him in the hand.
In response, the officer discharged his weapon twice, successfully halting the attack, as reported by the police department.
The suspect and both stabbing victims are currently in stable condition.
Additionally, the MARTA Police officer, who sustained an injury to his hand, received stitches.
MARTA Police have initiated standard protocol by notifying the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
