Law enforcement is actively investigating an incident where four adult women, now identified by Channel3 NOW as a mother and her three daughters, were discovered fatally shot inside a Tinley Park residence on Sunday morning.

The tragic discovery occurred at 11:30 a.m. in the 7400 block of 173rd Place.

Village Manager Pat Carr confirmed that police have a single male suspect in custody and identified as Maher Kassem.

The victim’s identities were released by the medical examiner Sunday evening. They are shared below:

  • Majeda Kassem, 53
  • Halema Kassem, 25
  • Hanan Kassem, 24
  • Zahia Kassem, 25

At 11:20 a.m., law enforcement received a 911 call from a man at the scene reporting a shooting inside the residence, as detailed by Carr during a press conference on Sunday afternoon.

A male suspect was apprehended at the location, though it remains unclear if he was the individual who made the emergency call, Carr noted.

A weapon has been recovered.

As of Sunday afternoon, the shooter’s relationship to the victims remains unclear. Carr also mentioned that there is no documented history of previous police calls to the residence.

Carr stated, “We are aware that this incident was confined to this residence. The individual was apprehended at the residence. The situation is under control. Currently, there is only one suspect, and we are assured that there is no danger to the broader community in the vicinity. Authorities are urging residents to steer clear of the area as the investigation progresses.”
