3 arrested and charged in fatal Tuscaloosa County shooting of 20-year-old Cayden Nolen

Two other victims, initially in critical condition, are now reported as stable. A fourth victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

At 3:00 AM on Saturday morning, deputies from the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s Office responded to a shooting in the 11000 Block of Pate Road.

Investigators determined that the shooting occurred during a gathering where several individuals had engaged in an argument.

Unfortunately, four victims were wounded in the incident. Despite deputies’ attempts at life-saving measures, one person did not survive. Capt. Jack Kennedy of the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit identified the deceased individual as Cayden Nolen, aged 20.

Two other victims, initially in critical condition, are now reported as stable.

A fourth victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

The Violent Crimes Unit and TCSO Crimes Scene Units took charge of the investigation.

Three individuals considered persons of interest were identified and found in different locations within Tuscaloosa County.

Following thorough interviews of both witnesses and suspects, execution of multiple search warrants, processing of an extensive crime scene, and consultation with the District Attorney’s Office, all three subjects were charged with one count of Murder and three counts of Attempted Murder each.

Numerous additional charges are pending as the investigation continues. All three subjects have been incarcerated and are being held without bond.

They are identified as:

  • Dallas Eugene Clark, age 22, from Northport
  • Zachary Tyler Smith, age 23, from Buhl
  • Jarret Tyler Booth, age 21, from Buhl
