26-year-old Joseph McCrackin killed in officer-involved shooting in Jonesboro

Officer Jacob Lowry reportedly suffered facial and head injuries and was subsequently transported to a local hospital for treatment.

The Arkansas State Police are conducting an inquiry into a fatal officer-involved shooting that resulted in the death of a 26-year-old Jonesboro man.

As per the initial incident report from the Jonesboro Police Department, officers responded to a disturbance call at approximately 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday, December 10, in the 1100 block of West Jefferson Avenue.

The report by Officer Jacob Lowry indicated that the suspect, identified as Joseph Lee McCrackin, was present at the scene threatening others with a knife.

While on the way to the location, Officer Jacob Lowry mentioned that Officer Zach Hobbs, who was already present at the scene, relayed that “shots had been fired.”

The incident report indicated that McCrackin sustained “[redacted] wounds to the upper torso.”

Hobbs reportedly suffered facial and head injuries and was subsequently transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Chief Rick Elliott informed K8 News that the Arkansas State Police have been requested to conduct an investigation into the shooting.
