An investigation is underway regarding a Tuesday night shooting in Cicero that claimed the lives of two women, as authorities explore potential connections to the death of a man in a nearby park.
The incident occurred inside a residence in the 1800 block of South 48th Court around 7:45 p.m., according to Cicero police, and is believed to be domestically linked.
Responding to the scene, officers discovered two women, aged 19 and 29, with severe injuries.
Despite being transported to Mount Sinai Hospital, they did not survive their injuries.
Myeshia Newby, 19, has been identified as one of the victims by the Cook County Medical Examiner, while neighbors have named the other victim as Jessica Hughes, 29.
Subsequently, on Wednesday morning, authorities in Cicero reported the discovery of 21-year-old Rafael Vega with a self-inflicted gunshot wound in a nearby park on 16th Street.
However, officials have not yet confirmed whether he is the suspect in the deaths of Newby and Hughes.
Authorities have affirmed that there is no risk to public safety.
