Waterville murder suspect Spridal Hubiak in custody for the murder of 52-year-old Angela Bragg

Update: On Sunday, December 31, 2023, at 12:58 am, Maine State Police Major Crime Unit Detectives were notified that the Flippin Police Department in Flippin, Arkansas made contact with 20-year-old Spridal Hubiak of Waterville as he was sleeping in a parking lot in the town of Flippin.

During the encounter with police, Hubiak fled in the black 2010 Ford Taurus he was driving and a chase ensued.

Area agencies assisted with the chase that ended on Highway 65 in Boone County after Troopers with the Arkansas State Police were able to deploy spike mats.

When the vehicle Hubiak was driving became disabled, Hubiak exited the vehicle with a rifle and shots were fired. Hubiak was injured. Detailed information about the shooting incident is not being released at this time and is being investigated by the Arkansas State Police.

Hubiak was transported by life flight to a medical facility in Green County, Missouri where he is receiving medical treatment.

The condition of Hubiak is currently unknown but he is expected to live.

Maine State Police Detectives continue to be in contact with the Boone County Sheriff’s Department and the Arkansas State Police and are coordinating investigative efforts.

On Thursday, December 28, 2023, at approximately 4:34 am, the Waterville Police Department responded to a call at Damon’s Beverage on Jefferson Street in Waterville where an employee of the business discovered the body of a deceased co-worker inside.

Waterville Police called the Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit for assistance. The body was taken to the Office of Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta where an autopsy will be conducted on Friday.

A 52-year-old city woman has been identified by authorities as Angela Bragg.

Investigators developed a person of interest in the death, 20-year-old Spirdal Hubiak of Waterville who was an employee at Damon’s Beverage.

A warrant for murder has been issued for his arrest. Hubiak is operating a Black 2010 Ford Taurus bearing Maine plate 4666ZR. Investigators believe Hubiak has left the state and efforts to locate him are under way.
