2 people injured in shooting near the skating rink inside the Parks Mall in Arlington

Officers are currently working to identify and locate the shooter. No arrests have been made at this time.

UPDATE (11:05pm): At around 7:30 this evening, the Arlington Police Department responded to a reported shooting near the skating rink inside the Parks Mall.

When first responders arrived on scene, they located two people — an adult male and an adult female — with apparent gunshot wounds. They were both transported to an area hospital. Their injuries are non-life threatening.

Based on our preliminary investigation, it appears two groups of people got into a physical fight on an escalator near the ice rink — and at some point during the altercation, shots were fired.

We believe the suspected shooter then left the mall. Officers are currently working to identify and locate this individual. No arrests have been made at this time.

Once officers arrived on scene, the mall was immediately evacuated and secured. There were no reports of any additional injuries.

Detectives are working to determine how, if it all, the two people who were injured were involved in this incident.

The Parks Mall will reopen for normal business hours on Friday.

UPDATE (10:15pm): We’re told the two people who were transported to the hospital have non-life threatening injuries.

No arrests have been made at this point. The investigation is ongoing.

UPDATE (9:20pm): It appears this incident occurred in the corridor near the ice skating rink.

Two people were transported to an area hospital in unknown condition.

Officers have completed a primary sweep of the mall and are currently conducting secondary sweeps.

The Arlington Police Department is investigating a reported shooting at the Parks Mall.

The mall has been evacuated and officers are securing the building.

At this time, we believe this was an isolated incident that began as a fight — NOT an active shooter situation.

Investigators are still working to determine what specifically happened — and who all was involved.
