13-year-old Johnathan Keith Cottingham and 19-year-old Louis Craig IV found shot dead inside crashed vehicle in Jefferson County

In Forestdale on Monday evening, a 19-year-old and a 13-year-old boy were discovered shot to death inside a crashed vehicle outside an apartment complex, as reported by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.

The 13-year-old victim has been identified as Johnathan Keith Cottingham from Forestdale, while the 19-year-old is Louis Craig IV from Birmingham, according to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office.

Lt. Joni Money has confirmed that deputies responded to a call at the apartment complex in the 200 block of Chickasaw Drive in Forestdale.

Another teenager, a third victim, was reportedly inside the vehicle but managed to escape unharmed. He sought assistance by running to a nearby home.

There are currently no suspects in custody, and indications suggest that the victims were specifically targeted, as per the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department.
