16-year-old charged, accused of shooting 17-year-old Hannah Layton to death in Richmond

A 16-year-old is now in custody following a fatal shooting that occurred at a residence in Fort Bend County over the weekend.

Richmond Police Department officers discovered the lifeless body of 17-year-old Hannah Layton on Saturday inside a house in the 2100 block of Crestwood Drive.

According to investigators, Hannah and the 16-year-old, who is now facing charges for her murder, were alone in the residence at the time of the incident.

The 16-year-old stayed at the scene and informed the police that Hannah was his friend, as per officers.

The 16-year-old suspect has been placed into the Fort Bend County Juvenile Detention Center.

While authorities have not revealed the suspect’s name or provided details on what precipitated the shooting, they have stated that an ongoing investigation is in progress.
