Jamyron Hope, an evidence technician with Selma Police Department, found shot dead

The State Bureau of Investigation is now spearheading the inquiry.

Early Wednesday, a Selma Police Department investigator was discovered deceased with a gunshot wound on a roadway.

Police Chief Kenta Fulford revealed that officers received a report of a person shot around 1 a.m. in the 3400 block of Water Avenue.

Upon arrival, they found Jamyron Hope unresponsive on the ground, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Fulford mentioned that Hope served as an evidence technician for the department.

The State Bureau of Investigation is now spearheading the inquiry.

Trooper Sgt. Jeremy Burkett noted that the intersection of Water Street and U.S. 80 will remain blocked for an extended duration.

Police Chief Kenta Fulford urged, “Please keep Evidence Tech. Hope’s family and the Selma Police Department in your thoughts and prayers.” Selma Mayor James Perkins also extended his condolences to the family, colleagues, and friends of Hope.
