North Carolina Wildlife Officers are currently probing a fatal hunting incident west of Morganton.

According to investigators, a father and his adult son were engaged in hunting activities on the opening day of deer season in the vicinity of Adventist Circle.

The two became separated during the hunt, and it is suspected that the son accidentally shot himself while his father was situated in a tree stand.

As reported by his friend Andrew Propst, Etha fell, causing his gun to discharge, with the bullet entering beneath his arm and fragmenting.

Collaborating with sheriff deputies, the officers are actively investigating the details surrounding the shooting.
