A shooting on the northwest side of Indianapolis has resulted in the death of two individuals.

Police were called to the vicinity of West 29th Street and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street around 10:49 p.m. on Sunday in response to reports of gunfire.

Upon reaching the scene, officers discovered two victims who had sustained injuries indicative of gunshot wounds.

IMPD has confirmed the fatalities of both victims due to injuries sustained in the incident.

One of the individuals was transported to a local hospital but was later pronounced dead. The Marion County Coroner’s Office has identified the deceased as 22-year-old David Lee Swanigan and 25-year-old Rosalba G. Torres Arceo.

According to IMPD Capt. Mark McCardia, both victims were initially found in a vehicle. Investigators believe the car traveled from the southwest corner of West 29th Street and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street, where numerous shell casings were later discovered, to the northwest corner of the intersection.

The vehicle came to a halt after colliding with a nearby sign.

Capt. McCardia expressed concern about the escalating use of guns to resolve disputes, stating, “People are solving disagreements with guns and shooting each other with no due regard for human life. It’s horrible.”
