Dachena Hill killed in an officer-involved shooting on the southwest side of Fort Wayne near Winchester Road

The Fort Wayne Police Department is looking into an officer-involved shooting that took place on Sunday morning.

As outlined in a press release from the Fort Wayne Police Department, officers were dispatched around 11:51 a.m. on Sunday to the vicinity of Babcock and Winchester Road in response to reports of a fight.

Initial accounts indicated that multiple individuals were involved in a fight, and a car was repeatedly colliding with a house.

The caller reported that an individual had been struck by the car, and the vehicle was allegedly trying to run over the responding officer.

Consequently, the officer discharged their weapon, hitting the driver. Fortunately, the officer and others present at the scene were unharmed, and there is no ongoing threat to public safety.

Several individuals involved in the incident have been detained and are currently undergoing interviews.

The Fort Wayne Police Department, Indiana State Police, and Allen County Prosecutor’s Office are actively engaged in an ongoing investigation.

As a result, Winchester Road, spanning from Babcock to Godfrey Drive, will continue to be closed to vehicular traffic for the next several hours.
