Suspect detained after drove his car through the Pueblo Mall and claimed to have bombs

There is no immediate threat to the public and there have been no reported injuries at this time.

At approximately 2:07 P.M., Pueblo Police Communications Center received a call of shots fired at the Pueblo Mall, located in the 3400 block of Dillon Drive.

Officers arrived on scene in just over 3 minutes and immediately identified a suspect in a vehicle and attempted to stop him.

The suspect fled in his vehicle through the parking lot with officers in pursuit. The suspect drove his vehicle through the entrance doors located on the west side of the Pueblo Mall, near the food court.

Officers were able to take the male suspect into custody after a protracted struggle.

While in custody the suspect indicated he had bombs in his vehicle. Officers have evacuated the Pueblo Mall and Pueblo Metro Bomb Unit is responding.

There is no immediate threat to the public and there have been no reported injuries at this time.

The mall will be closed for an extended period of time. Please check Pueblo Mall social media and the Pueblo Police Department social media for updates of when re-opening may occur.
