Relatives and a close friend of the victim, 19-year-old Karla Brown, involved in the shooting incident at Independence Center mall on Friday, November 11, reveal that she is pregnant and currently on life support.

The altercation, occurring around 2:20 p.m. that Friday afternoon, resulted in four individuals being injured.

One person is in critical condition, while the other three sustained injuries ranging from non-life-threatening to serious, according to Jack Taylor, a spokesperson for the Independence Police Department.

As indicated on the GoFundMe page dated November 10, 2023, at Independence Center, Karla’s life was tragically ended. Instead of joyfully preparing for their soon-to-arrive grandson Max, Jennifer and Chris are now faced with the heart-wrenching task of organizing their daughter’s funeral.

In an act of generosity, they have chosen to donate her organs, allowing her legacy to live on through others, and have decided on cremation. We seek assistance in raising funds to alleviate the financial strain on her grieving parents.

No parent should ever endure the pain of burying their child. Our thoughts and prayers are with them during this difficult time.

As of Friday, three individuals considered persons of interest were apprehended by the police while attempting to depart from the scene, as stated by Taylor.

Authorities were initially uncertain about the connections between the two groups engaged in the shootout or the factors that precipitated the outbreak of violence.
