Austin Police Officer Jorge Pastore killed during a SWAT hostage rescue in the 9300 block of Bernoulli Drive

Two other people were found dead.

On November 11th, 2023, Senior Police Officer Jorge Pastore #9097 was tragically killed during a SWAT hostage rescue in the 9300 block of Bernoulli Drive in Austin.

At 2:49am the Austin Police Department responded to a domestic violence incident where family members had been stabbed. Officer Pastore responded in a SWAT capacity along with other SWAT team members.

Due to the injuries sustained by family members, a hostage rescue was initiated, once by Patrol and then by SWAT when they arrived on scene.

During both hostage rescue attempts, multiple officers were shot at, with the second attempt leaving two SWAT officers seriously wounded. Both SWAT officers were transported to a nearby hospital where Officer Pastore succumbed to his wounds.

The suspect in the incident is deceased.

Senior Police Officer Jorge Pastore #9097 began his career with the Austin Police Department on June 24th, 2019, with the 141st Cadet Class, and was commissioned as an Austin Police Officer on January 31st, 2020. Officer Pastore passionately served the Austin community in a variety of different capacities including patrol in Henry and George sector, while also an active team member of the Honor Guard, SWAT Gold Team, CAST, and SRT.

Officer Pastore is survived by his wife Kim Pastore, stepsons Conner and Trevor Balint, parents Lourdes Mendez and Jorge Pastore Sr., and sisters Tatiana Pastore and Nohely Pastore.
