Warren police are conducting an investigation into a deadly shooting that occurred early this morning. Residents informed 21 News that they heard several gunshots followed by screams emanating from a residence in the 900 block of Francis Avenue SE around 2 a.m. on Saturday.

The victim, 26-year-old Ashante Kirksey, had recently relocated to this typically peaceful neighborhood just two weeks ago.

Witnesses shared with Channel3 that the community is home to many children who frequently engage in outdoor activities. Neighbors suspect that Kirksey’s four children were present at home during the tragic incident.

Councilwoman Cheryl Saffold, who is a family member of Kirksey, revealed that she was the victim of a home invasion intended for someone else. Describing Kirksey as a wonderful mother and friend, Saffold mentioned, “I just browsed through her Facebook page, and there are numerous posts from people expressing their love for her.

She had a delightful personality and was always smiling.” A murder warrant has been issued for 19-year-old Noel Flores, who is male.

Individuals with details regarding the murder or the location of Flores are urged to contact Detective Nick Carney at 330-841-2660.
