Authorities are currently on the lookout for a woman who allegedly brandished a firearm during a dispute with a group of unfamiliar individuals in downtown Houston, resulting in the tragic death of a man.

Houston police were dispatched to a shooting incident near the Four Seasons Hotel on Austin Street, close to the junction with Lamar Street, at approximately 1:20 a.m. on Thursday.

This intersection is situated about one block from Discovery Green.

Upon arrival, officers discovered a 20-year-old Matthew Julius Harris suffering from a gunshot wound. He was promptly transported to the hospital, where he was subsequently declared deceased.

According to HPD, investigators suspect that the fatal shooting arose from a disagreement between two separate groups who seem to have no prior acquaintance.

It is reported that during the altercation, a woman produced a handgun and discharged two rounds.

The victim had initially been part of a larger gathering of family and friends, but at the time of the shooting, he was accompanied by just one other individual.

HPD stated that the entire incident was recorded on surveillance footage.

Lt. Ignacio Izaguirre commented on the surveillance footage, stating, “It seems to be a female who retrieves a handgun and fires twice, hitting the young man in the chest area.”

Following the shooting, both the woman and another man fled the scene, according to the police.

However, investigators have refrained from providing a description of the suspects at this time.
