Little Rock police have elevated their inquiry into a Friday night shooting, which left four people, including three children, injured. Regrettably, one of the victims, 15-year-old Semaj O’Neal, succumbed to his injuries on Wednesday, prompting the investigation to shift towards a homicide case.

The incident occurred shortly before 5 p.m.

According to the report, officers from the Little Rock Police Department were dispatched to the 7600 block of Baseline Road near Chicot Road, where they discovered three vehicles involved in a collision at the intersection.

Inside one of the vehicles, they found the victim, later identified as O’Neal, who had sustained a gunshot wound to his head. He was promptly transported to a nearby hospital, where he received treatment until his unfortunate passing five days later.

Officials reported that another juvenile, identified as a 9-year-old, was discovered at the scene with a gunshot wound to the leg.

This victim was promptly transported to a local hospital for necessary medical attention. Additionally, investigators revealed that two more individuals, aged 17 and 19, subsequently arrived at a nearby hospital with gunshot injuries related to this incident.

Fortunately, both were treated and subsequently discharged.

Authorities stated that a fifth individual sustained injuries in this incident but not from gunfire. Detectives have refrained from disclosing any details regarding potential suspects or whether the shooting transpired at the crash site or elsewhere.

The investigation into this shooting remains underway under the purview of detectives in the LRPD Southwest Division.

As of now, this incident marks the 50th homicide in Little Rock for 2023, a contrast to the 71 cases reported at this time in 2022.
