37-year-old Jason York shot and killed in Independence

The investigation is in its preliminary stages and no persons have been arrested.

The Independence Police Department, Kansas Bureau of Investigation and the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office are investigating a shooting that fatally injured 37-year-old Jason York of Independence.

At about 7:27 a.m Monday IPD received a call of shots fired in the 1100 block of W. Cedar. They arrived on scene and located York in a home with a gunshot wound.

The coroner pronounced him dead at the scene.

The investigation is in its preliminary stages and no persons have been arrested.
