Update: The City of Borger, in conjunction with the Borger Police Department, has provided an update regarding the shooting incident that occurred on Main Street Saturday evening, resulting in the tragic loss of one individual and injuries to three others, along with one arrest.
Authorities have identified the deceased as 25-year-old Jose Alvarez from Houston, who was discovered at the scene of the incident.
Three other men, two from Borger and one from Houston, were reported to be in critical but stable condition as of Sunday evening.
Additionally, officials announced the arrest of 25-year-old Seth Preas from Borger in connection to the shooting, facing charges of alleged aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
On Saturday 10/21/2023 at approximately 9:30pm, Borger Regional Communications Center received a 911 call in reference to a disturbance in the 700 Block of North Main Street in Borger.
While on 911, the caller then advised dispatch that shots had been fired.
Officers arrived on scene a short time later and found multiple victims with gun shot wounds.
Three victims were transported to local hospitals for treatment, and are reported to be in critical but stable condition.
One male was also found to be deceased on scene. The male victim’s identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
Preliminary investigation shows that several subjects were involved in an altercation when multiple firearms were produced and shots were fired.
Law enforcement is not seeking any further suspects at this time, but is asking if anyone witnessed the altercation to contact the Borger Police Department .
The investigation is ongoing and more information will be provided when it becomes available.
