On Wednesday night at Atlanta’s Hartsfield Jackson International Airport, three individuals, including a police officer from Atlanta, were subjected to stabbing incidents.

The attacks took place in the south terminal of the airport, as reported by Atlanta police.

The perpetrator is currently in custody, and there is no further risk to the public.

Channel3 NOW has learned that the injured officer is a 71-year-old retired officer who returned to active duty. Around 4:45 p.m., police received a call regarding an armed woman with a knife near the west crossover.

Prior to the police arriving on the scene, the woman had already stabbed a man. Officers made attempts to persuade her to relinquish the knife and worked to distance her from other travelers. While engaged in dialogue, the woman proceeded to stab both another woman and an APD lieutenant who was attempting to apprehend her.

Subsequently, another officer managed to subdue and disarm the woman, leading to her arrest.

The names and states of the victims have not been disclosed; however, the police reported that they were all in a state of alertness, consciousness, and breathing when transported to the hospital.

The suspect’s identity remains undisclosed, and she did not sustain any injuries. Videos circulating on social media depicted individuals crouching down in the security line, while someone could be heard shouting in the background.

Authorities stated that they are currently investigating the events leading up to the incident. The airport issued a statement assuring that the disruption to airport operations is “minimal.”

This is a developing story that will be updated when more information is available.
