Gwaun Frierson killed in Garvin County shooting

The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation has officially identified the individual who was shot during the exchange of gunfire in Garvin County.

Gwaun Frierson has been confirmed as the victim struck by the gunfire on Wednesday evening, according to the OSBI.

Wednesday morning, authorities were dispatched to a shooting incident near mile marker 55 on Interstate 35, close to Davis.

According to an affidavit, Gwaun Frierson was situated in the passenger seat of a dump truck traveling north on I-35 when he was hit by a bullet, resulting in his tragic demise.

As per court records, Gwaun Frierson lost his life while he was a passenger in a dump truck traveling north on Interstate 35. His companion, Julion Diaz, escaped unharmed.

Frierson, a local worker involved in the I-35 expansion project, was tragically shot during the incident, as reported by the Oklahoma Department of Transportation. He was employed by Pioneer Transport, a company under the ownership of Duit Holdings.

A source close to Frierson, who wishes to remain anonymous, shared that the victim had recently commenced his role as a contractor for Pioneer Transport, and was undergoing training when the shooting occurred.

According to the anonymous individual, Frierson was situated in the passenger seat of the dump truck when the incident took place. Pioneer Transport, Inc. issued the following statement:

“Today, one of our employees at Pioneer Transport, Inc., suffered a fatal gunshot wound from crossfire in the officer-involved shooting in Garvin County. The event deeply saddens us. We are cooperating with law enforcement in their investigation of the crime scene. We are withholding the name of our employee pending notification to their family by authorities.”

The Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office has verified that Deputy Sean Steadman was also shot. Thankfully, he is reported to be in stable condition and is anticipated to have a complete recovery.
