Two men dead and two others injured including 7-year-old Aden Carothers in East Garfield Park shooting

Chicago Police report that a shooting on the city’s West Side has resulted in the tragic loss of two men, and left two others injured, one of whom is a child.

The incident occurred shortly after 2:30 p.m. in the vicinity of West Madison Street and South Sacramento Boulevard in Garfield Park.

According to police, the victims, three men and a 7-year-old boy, were standing in a vacant lot in the area when a southbound-traveling car approached, and an occupant inside began firing at the group.

Police report that a 33-year-old man and a 31-year-old man sustained gunshot wounds to the head. They were rushed to the hospital, but tragically succumbed to their injuries.

The 7-year-old boy, identified as Aden Carothers, suffered a graze wound to the head and was taken to Stroger Hospital in fair condition. Aden will be turning 8 next month.

Additionally, a 38-year-old man, who was shot in the lower back, was transported to the hospital in critical condition.
