18-year-old Mauryce Knox shot to death in Bessemer

A probe has been initiated following the tragic shooting death of a teenager on Friday night in Bessemer.

Authorities received a call about a collision in the 1600 block of Berkley Avenue shortly after 8:20 p.m.

Upon their arrival, it was determined that the victim had sustained gunshot wounds, as stated by Detective Justin Burmeister. Regrettably, the victim was declared deceased at the scene.

The individual has been identified as Mauryce Knox, aged 18, according to Detective Burmeister. Presently, there is limited information available regarding the tragic incident.

Detectives are actively pursuing their investigation on Saturday. No arrests have been made at this time. Knox’s unfortunate demise marks the sixth homicide in Bessemer this year.
