In the early hours of the morning, the Juvenile Relations Bureau of the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office was informed about a bomb threat sent via email to an administrator at Buchholz High School.

Deputies from the Juvenile Relations Bureau, along with the K-9 Unit and Bomb Squad, were promptly alerted, leading to an immediate lockdown of the school since students had not yet arrived on campus.

During the investigation, ACSO Deputies discovered another threat had been received at Kanapaha Middle School, triggering a similar response and an immediate lockdown.

Presently, students arriving at both Buchholz High School and Kanapaha Middle School are not permitted to enter the premises.

Teams consisting of bomb squad technicians and explosive detection dogs are conducting thorough interior searches of each school to guarantee the safety of all students and staff.

All individuals who have arrived on campus, including students and faculty, are in a secure and safe environment.

This is a developing story that will be updated when more information is available.
