16-year-old Victor Nunez shot to death in Sauk Village

The preliminary investigation has determined that this is an isolated incident with no ongoing danger to the public.

The Sauk Village Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred in the 2500 block of 222nd Place.

On September 9, 2023, at approximately 1:26 pm Sauk Village Police Officers responded to a call for service for two (2) gunshot victims inside of a SUV.

The first victim, 16-year-old Victor Nunez from Lynwood, was rushed to Saint Margaret’s Hospital in Dyer, Indiana, and was subsequently airlifted to the University of Chicago Hospital where he succumbed to his wounds.

The second victim, a 17-year-old juvenile from Lynwood, was rushed to Franciscan Health in Munster, Indiana, where he was treated for his injuries and released.

The South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force is assisting Sauk Village Detectives in the investigation.

The preliminary investigation has determined that this is an isolated incident with no ongoing danger to the public.
