78-year-old John Wesley Anderson killed in Kenney shooting, suspect Jose De Jesus Gomez Munoz still at large

DeWitt County Coroner Randy Rice has released the name of the deceased victim of the shooting which occurred on September 3, 2023. John Wesley “Wes” Anderson 78, of rural Kenney was pronounced dead at the scene by DeWitt County Coroner Randy Rice.

The second victim has been identified as Kigan Antonio Munoz of Clinton, Illinois, was shot multiple times and is listed in stable condition at Carle Hospital in Champaign, Illinois.

Both victims are related to the suspect. Mr. Anderson is the father-n-law and Kigan Munoz the suspect’s son. The suspect Jose De Jesus Gomez Munoz is still at large.

Due to the time that has lapsed since the incident yesterday afternoon, we believe the suspect is no longer in the area. Those asked to leave their residences are free to return. Please contact law enforcement if there is anything suspicious in nature.

Authorities continue to search for Jose DE Jesus Munoz. He is believed to be driving a white Honda Accord bearing Illinois registration DT50632. He should be considered armed and dangerous, please do not confront or approach him. Contact law enforcement immediately if seen.

This is an ongoing investigation all suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
