Another mass shooting in Philadelphia resulted in at least one death and eight injuries on the Fourth of July.

The incident occurred around 11:30 p.m. on Thursday near 60th Street and Kingsessing Avenue. Police were alerted to the shooting when a victim flagged down patrolling officers in the area.

More officers arrived at the scene and discovered a total of eight people had been shot. One of the victims succumbed to their injuries.

Police did not provide an update on the conditions of the other victims, but noted that at least three are between 16 and 17 years old.

Some victims were transported to local hospitals in private vehicles.

Several spent shell casings were found at the scene, but no weapons were recovered. Police say the motive is unknown and believe the shooting was not linked to any specific gathering, despite a few taking place in the area.

When questioned about the shooting’s proximity to last year’s incident, Inspector Kpana Massaquoi expressed concern.

“It is very alarming, especially since we had officers in the area to try to prevent anything like this from happening, and it still happened,” Massaquoi said. “We take it very seriously and find it very alarming.”

This is a developing story that will be updated when more information is available.
