23-year-old Shamyria Williams killed after shooting in Hartford

Tragedy struck Hartford early Friday morning as a shooting claimed the life of 23-year-old Shamyria Williams.

According to police reports, officers responded to calls of gunfire on Cleveland Avenue at approximately 12:50 am.

Lieutenant Aaron Boisvert of the Hartford Police Department offered an update on the investigation around 9:30 am.

Upon arrival, officers found two victims in their 20s: Shamyria Williams and a male companion.

Sadly, Williams showed no signs of life and was rushed to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The male victim, fortunately conscious, was also transported for treatment.

The investigation revealed both were in a car when the shooting occurred. Lieutenant Boisvert stated police believe they were unintended targets of gunfire.

Three potential suspects have been identified, and the Hartford Police Department’s major crimes and crime scene units are now leading the investigation.
