At least two persons shot at Walgreens in Old Colorado City

CSPD his responding to a shooting call at a Walgreens in old Colorado city, media staging is at the north east corner of 31st and Colorado. PIO responding.

At 1:30 PM on Sunday June 16, CSPD received a call for service for an active shooter at the Walgreens in the 3100 block of West Colorado Avenue. When patrol officers arrived, they found one individual with an apparent non-life-threatening gunshot wound in front of the Walgreens.

Several people in the area reported that a possible suspect was still in the store.

Officers immediately asked people in nearby businesses to shelter in place and alerted the tactical unit to respond.

Patrol officers then made entry into the store and located one person who was sheltering in place and escorted her to safety.

Members of the Tactical Enforcement Unit arrived and with officers continued their search of the store and determined the building was clear.

About that time a second person with a gunshot wound arrived by personal vehicle to a local hospital.

Further investigation revealed this incident was a disturbance between the two individuals with gunshot wounds, and not an active shooter situation. The CSPD assault unit has responded and is investigating.

The 3100 Block of W Colorado has reopened to traffic while the investigation of the scene continues. Any updates will come from the PIO office.
