37-year-old Eric Gahan arrested after incident at Lee Nissan in Fort Walton Beach

FORT WALTON BEACH, Fla. – At approximately 0644 officers responded to 235 Miracle Strip Pkwy SW (Lee Nissan) in reference to multiple calls for service from Nissan employees regarding an Active Shooter at this location, suspect description was a white male, short blonde hair, light color shirt, dark shorts, and black hat with a black in color firearm.

Officers arrived, cleared the business but did not locate the suspect on scene, no employees were injured.

Officers established a perimeter and located the subject on Coral Drive SW, subject was challenged at gun point and fled on foot.

Officers shifted the perimeter north and located the suspect at 220 Santa Rosa Street SW (Thrifty Storage); before officers could challenge the suspect, the suspect forced a male subject out of a blue in color Chevrolet pickup at gunpoint, entered the vehicle and attempted to flee; a brief vehicle pursuit ensued until the suspect crashed the stolen pickup truck into a fence on the storage facility property and fled on foot.

Suspect was located moments later behind 124 Hollywood Boulevard SW (Priority One HVAC) where he was taken into custody without further incident.

Video surveillance from Lee Nissan shows suspect burglarizing multiple vehicles on the property before entering the establishment and holding employees against their will and stealing items before fleeing on foot.

OCSO responded and assisted with establishing perimeter and detaining suspect.
