18-year-old student shot at West Jefferson High School in Harvey
There had been an early dismissal, and some students were getting on buses when the gunshots went off.
There was a shooting at West Jefferson High School today (Thursday, May 23rd) around lunchtime.
At least one student, an 18-year-old, was shot.

The school was locked down, and police are on the scene. We don’t know yet how badly the student is hurt.
The shooting at West Jefferson High School today happened as some students were leaving for the day.
There had been an early dismissal, and some students were getting on buses when the gunshots went off.
Councilman Hans Liljeberg reported that a fight broke out after the last day of school dismissal.
According to a JPSO spokesperson, the shooting occurred in a business parking lot across the street from the school.
