Multiple people injured after shooting outside the Kroger in Whitehaven

According to a spokesperson for the Memphis Police Department, two individuals sustained gunshot wounds in a parking lot close to the Kroger store in Whitehaven.

Officers were dispatched to the scene following a report of a shooting at approximately 9:25 a.m. on Friday, May 10, 2024, in the 4600 block of Elvis Presley Blvd, adjacent to the Whitehaven Kroger and Liberty Bank.

MPD reported that initially, no victims were discovered; however, a man and a woman, both adults, arrived at Methodist South Hospital in a private vehicle.

Both victims were in critical condition at the time and were subsequently transferred to Regional One Hospital.

The man remains in critical condition, while the woman’s condition is now listed as non-critical.

Investigators received an earlier report of a disturbance in the parking lot at the same location but are uncertain whether it is related to the shooting.

Witnesses informed Channel3 NOW that the shooting occurred after a dispute over a parking spot.

MPD is currently conducting a search for suspects involved in the shooting.

No description has been provided yet, and it remains unclear whether the shooter(s) had any prior acquaintance with the victims.

Additionally, MPD reported that gunfire also struck the Liberty Bank in the vicinity, and efforts are ongoing to ascertain the precise number of shots fired.

The incident occurred during a time when vendors were reportedly present in the parking lot, selling items for the approaching Mother’s Day holiday.
