According to authorities, an adult and a child have tragically lost their lives, while three others sustained injuries in a bus stop collision caused by a wrong-way driver in the east Las Vegas valley.

The incident occurred on Wednesday after 7:30 p.m. in the 3600 block of Boulder Highway near Sahara Avenue.

Police reported that a white four-door sedan was observed traveling southbound in the northbound lane on Boulder Highway from Karen Avenue when it struck five individuals waiting at the bus stop.

Among the five individuals struck, two were adults and three were children.

Tragically, one adult and one child succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash, as confirmed by the police.

The remaining adult and two children were transported to the hospital for medical treatment and are reported to have serious injuries, though not life-threatening, according to police sources.

Authorities suspect impairment and excessive speed contributed to the crash.

The driver was apprehended at the scene and subsequently transported to the hospital.

The collision occurred shortly after authorities received reports of a 911 outage affecting the entire Las Vegas valley.

Motorists are advised to steer clear of the area, as southbound lanes of Boulder Highway are anticipated to remain closed for approximately four hours while the investigation continues beyond 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
