18-year-old Kayvion Estis charged with murder of 17-year-old Justin Carmony in north Toledo

A suspect has been apprehended in connection with a shooting incident in north Toledo late Thursday, resulting in the death of a teenager and injury to another victim.

Toledo police responded to the scene on the 3400 block of Maher around 11:30 p.m. following reports of a shooting.

At the location, officers arrested 18-year-old Kayvion Estis. Estis is alleged to have shot Justin Carmony, aged 17, as well as a second victim, 22-year-old Damien Barr.

Both victims were taken to the hospital, where Carmony succumbed to his injuries sustained in the shooting.

The second victim is anticipated to recover from their injuries, as per police statements.

After the incident, authorities cordoned off Maher Street between Manhattan Boulevard and Homer Avenue.

Additionally, a firearm was discovered in the front yard of a residence, and at least one witness was brought in for questioning.
