Stanford University on lockdown after an unidentified individual claiming to commit a shooting

ALERT: On February 16, 2024, at 12:40 pm, an unidentified individual contacted the non-emergency line at Palo Alto dispatch, claiming to be at the campus entrance with intentions of carrying out a shooting.

The Department of Public Safety (DPS) promptly responded to the location and is currently assessing the credibility of the call.

As a precautionary measure, we are alerting the community.
