Sheridan Police Department Sgt. Nevada Krinkee killed in the line of duty

With heavy hearts, we mourn the loss of Sgt. Nevada Krinkee, a dedicated member of our department for six and a half years.

He was tragically shot and killed while attempting to serve a trespass warning to a male individual near the intersection of 5th Street and Val Vista Street.

Sgt. Krinkee was swiftly transported to Sheridan Memorial Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

The male suspect fled but was apprehended shortly after in the vicinity of 6th and N. Sheridan Avenue.

Law enforcement personnel from Sheridan Police Department, Sheridan County Sheriff’s Office, and Wyoming Highway Patrol established a perimeter and discovered that the suspect had barricaded himself inside a residence.

Nearby residents were evacuated as a precaution.

The Gillette Police Department tactical unit and Crisis Negotiators were called in, leading to a stand-off situation. The scene remains active as we await further developments.

The investigation has been handed over to The Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation.
