The discovery of six deceased individuals in a secluded Mojave Desert region near the San Bernardino County community of El Mirage has triggered a significant investigation, as announced by authorities.

Deputies responded to a wellness check request around 8:15 p.m. on Tuesday in an area off Highway 395.

Initially, five bodies were found, and, in a subsequent search on Wednesday morning, a sixth person was discovered deceased at the same location, according to San Bernardino County sheriff’s spokesperson Mara Rodriguez, who provided the information during a news conference.

The sheriff’s specialized investigations division members arrived at the scene to carry out the investigation, focusing on examining a white van present at the location.

Details regarding the circumstances and timing of the individuals’ deaths, as well as their identities, were not immediately disclosed by investigators.

El Mirage is situated approximately 20 miles west of the Victorville city limits.

News footage from the scene depicts yellow tape blocking access to a dirt road, with several police vehicles visible in the distance.

This is a developing story that will be updated when more information is available.
