4 people killed, one injured after hot air balloon crashes in Eloy, Arizona

ELOY, AZ – January 14, 2024 – A tragic hot air balloon crash occurred at approximately 7:50 AM today in the desert area east of Sunshine Blvd. and Hanna Rd. in Eloy, AZ.

The Eloy Police Department regretfully confirms that there are four deceased individuals and one person in critical condition as a result of this incident.

The cause of the crash is currently unknown.

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) are on scene and have taken over the investigation into this aspect of the incident.

The Eloy Police Department will continue to assist in any way possible.

One victim has been identifed as Katie Bartrom.
