42-year-old Dongwei Su and Yakun Sui dead in an apparent domestic-related shooting in Downers Grove

Update – January 10, 2024 – 12:00 p.m. Based upon the initial investigation, police were able to determine that an argument and physical altercation took place between the husband and wife who reside in the home.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the husband retrieved a handgun and fatally shot his wife. Upon the arrival of officers, the husband was located deceased with an apparent gunshot wound.

The deceased have been identified as Dongwei Su, male, 42 years of age, and Yakun Sui, female, 42 years of age of 6314 Fairview Avenue, Downers Grove. The incident remains under investigation.

Downers Grove, IL – On January 9, 2024, at 10:02 p.m., Downers Grove Police officers responded to a 9-1-1 call of an unknown problem at a residence in the 6400 block of Fairview Avenue.

Upon arrival, officers located several witnesses who reported a man with a gun inside a home. Witnesses also reported hearing a gunshot.

Officers entered the residence and located a deceased male and female, both with apparent gunshot wounds.

The preliminary investigation indicates that the incident is domestic in nature and there is no danger to the public.

Police continue to investigate and there is no additional information available for release at this time.
