Suspect killed in an officer-involved shooting in Tuba City

TUBA CITY, Ariz. – At about 11:22 a.m. the Navajo Police Department Tuba City District received a call of a domestic violence dispute at the NHA housing.

The suspect was seen with a weapon and a female was seen screaming for help. Upon officers’ arrival, the suspect pointed a firearm in their direction.

One officer fired a shot at the suspect, missing him.

The suspect retreated into the residence. Officers set up a perimeter and began calling out to the suspect to surrender.

An unknown female approached the residence, making it to the front door. This resulted in a second engagement between the suspect and the officers.

During this encounter, shots were fired, striking the suspect. The suspect was rushed from the scene, however, succumbed to his injuries.

The female and the officers were not harmed.

This incident has been referred to the Navajo Department of Criminal Investigation and the Federal Bureau of Investigation for further investigation.
